Scanning - Ahead
Look 100+ meters ahead and identify all hazards.
  
Mirrors - Behind
Know what is behind you before slowing down. Anything you do before you do it, know what is behind you.

Blindspot Checks - Next
Avoid having vehicles in your blindspot, Always know what is next to you.

Speed
Drive to the road condition and don't exceed the posted speed signs. 

Braking
Don't brake hard, cover your brake and roll around corners. Always aim to stop before and roll up.

Position
Keep on your side of the road and in your lane.

Gap Selection
When waiting to turn, decide before the last vehicle passes if it's going to be safe. Check and recheck but be ready before.

Steering
​You can move your hands around and make big turns when needed. While moving keep both hands on the wheel.

Points To Remember:
  • "Turn Left With Care" Sign - Don't stop for no reason. You have your own lane.
  • Left Turning Bay - Keep indicating while in the turning and bay.
  • Motorway Offramp - Check your left blindspot.

In General :
  • Carpark - go slow
  • Pedestrian Crossing - Check both sides and center mirror before moving over. Make sure there is enough room on the other side before moving  and don't on it
  • Check all side streets.
  • When stopped in a queue, stay back so you can see the ground.
  • Merging and lane changing, Don't move suddenly into the other lane.
  • When entering turning bays - check your blindspot.
  • Don't indicate too early
  • On Narrow roads indicate to pass parked cars.
  • Parallel Parking - Recheck the right side, take your time and use the space behind you.
  • 3 Point Turn and U Turn - Indicate right and recheck the right side.
  • Blind Corners - If you can't see around the corner, the oncoming vehicles can't see you. Be prepared for oncoming vehicles.

  • Left Turn - Angle the car with the road.
  • When one lane splits into 2 lanes aim to be in the left lane.
  • Don't drop your hands as you slow down.
  • Dual lanes - Be prepared to change lanes.
  • Speed Control - Drive to the road conditions. School Zones 40km, School Bus 20km, Road Works 30km.
  • When waiting to turn check both sides.
  • Don't queue across intersections, when following buses or trucks stay back.
  • Motorway use all of the on ramps.
  • Avoid bottle necks, look ahead and be slow before.
  • If you can't see them, they can't see you.

  • Don't drop your hands while moving. Stop fully before letting go of the steering wheel.
  • Bottlenecks on narrow roads - Don't rush look ahead and be slow before.
  • Right Turn - Don't cut corners, stay on your side of the road.
  • Narrow Roads - When moving around parked cars, you must indicate and check your blindspot.
  • Moving over to park on the road side - you must indicate and check your left blindspot and when taking off when safe you must indicate and check your right blindspot.
  • Use the flush median when needed.

  • When doing a U Turn you must indicate right and check your right blindspot while keeping left.

  • Roundabouts - check both sides and behind you as you get closer, angle the car with the road and give way to all vehicles in the roundabout and on your right. Aim for around 20km and look for cover vehicles. Don't go because the other cars are moving. Make sure you can see before moving. Indicate left to exit.
  • Changing  / switching lanes - Don't brake for no reason.
