Immediate Fail:
  1. Speed Control - You must stay within the speed limit including all temporary speed signs.
  2. Traffic Lights - You must stop behind the white lines.

Critical Errors:
  1. Stop Sign - Stop, pause and then move
  2. Right Turns - When turning on narrow roads, you must stay on your side of the road and not cut corners.
  3. Narrow Roads - Look ahead, avoid bottlenecks and indicate to pass parked cars.
  4. Roundabouts - You must indicate left before exiting.
  5. Merging - You must indicate and check your blindspot before merging.
  6. Hazard ID - You must identify moving hazards and how you respond to them.
  7. Giveway Rule - You must follow the give way rule and not give way to the wrong vehicle.
  8. Dual Lane Turns - You must not remain stationary for no good reason for 5 seconds or more when there is ample opportunity to turn. 

Needs Improvement:​​
  1. Left Turn - Angel the car and check the cycle lane before turning, the left blindspot.
  2. Searching and Mirror Usage - Recheck all intersections before and after.
  3. Following Distance - Stay back when following large trucks.
  4. Stopping Distance - Stay back when waiting in a queue.
  5. Indicating - You must keep indicating till all 4 wheels are ing the other lane.
  6. Orange Lights - Don't rush to go through them (Right Turns)
  7. Flush Medians - Be comfortable using them when needed.

Key Points To Focus On Before Your Restricted Driving Test
  • More Searching - Mirrors and Shoulder Checks
  • Roundabouts - You must indicate to exit and stay in your lane.
  • Parking - Indicate and check before moving in, use the white lines as a guide.
  • Parallel Parking - Use the space behind you. Indicate and check before stopping.
  • Lane Changing and Merging - Nothing sudden and know it's safe before indicating.
  • Flush Medians - Be more comfortable using them.
  • Left Turns into High Speed Zones - Angle the car and stay in your lane.
  • Steering and Hand Position - Don't drop your hands when slowing down. Make big turns when needed, move your hands.
  • Duallane Turns - Stay in your lane when turning.

Needs Improvement:​​

  8. Turning Bays & Flush Medians - You must use them. Merge into them, nothing sudden. Indicate and check blindspot before moving in.

Critical Errors:
  1. Searching Ahead, Mirror Usage and Blindspot Checks - Move your chin, and turn your head 90 degrees to see what is next to you. Look outward and off the road. Check the center mirror before braking.
  2. Roundabouts - Be ready before, look for cover vehicles on your left and in front. Stay behind the white line. Indicate to exit.
  3. Lane Change - Indicate before moving into the other lane and keep indicating till all 4 wheels are in the other lane.
  4. Merging - You must indicate when needed and always check your blindspot, don't move suddenly into the other lane.
  5. Parking On Roadside - You must check your blindspot.
  6. 3 Point Turn - You must indicate right and check your right blindspot.
  7. Vehicle Position - Waiting at the giveway sign, you must stop behind the white line. If you can't see 100meters edge forward slowly.
  8. Narrow Roads - Look ahead, avoid bottlenecks and indicate to pass parked cars.

Needs Improvement:​
  1. Following Distance & Stopping Distance - Stay back when waiting in a queue and double your following distance.
  2. Green Lights - Check both sides before moving. All intersections check both sides before moving through.
  3. Sharp or blind corners - Nothing sudden, as you approach just let the car roll around the corners. Cover your brake and be prepared to react.
  4. Gap Selection / Clutch Control - Be ready before, check both side while waiting to turn.
  5. U- Turn - Keep left and recheck your right blindspot
  6. Hazards - Scanning the road ahead and off the road. 
  7. Parallel Parking - Recheck the right sides, take your time and move. You have 2minutes and you can go back and forth 4 times.
  8. Steering / Hand Position - Move your hands and keep your hands on the wheel. Make big turns when needed. Don't twist your hands.
  9. Hill Start - Don't Roll back. Use the hand brake or use both feet.
  10. Left Turn - Check cycle lane before turning, the left blindspot.
  11. Backing - Look back, not just camera or side mirrors
  12. Carpark - Go slow and keep on your side of the road.

  • Roundabouts - When exiting you must indicate left.
  • More Searching Required - Before and after everything intersection. Check center mirror before braking. You must be able to see 100meters on both sides before turning.
  • Turning - Be slow before turning (20km)
  • Parking - Be slow before entering car park and use the space around you.
  • Narrow Roads - You must indicate to overtake parked cars.
  • Left Turns - Angle the car and keep left.
  • Steering - Move your hands and make big turns when needed.
  • Parallel Parking - Check and recheck the right side. Use the space behind you.
  • Right Turns - Don't cut corners. Find the center of the road before turning.
  • Blind Corners - Keep left and be slow before.
  • 3 Point Turn and U Turns - Indicate right.
  • Keep Left - You can rive over empty bus stops.
  • Lane Changing - Be ready before and don't have have vehicles in your blindspot.
  • Parking On Roadside - You must indicate and check blindspot before braking.
  • Stop Sign - You must fully stop before moving (pause, check and then move).
  • Flush Medians - Be comfortable using them when needed. Merge in and out of them.
