Lesson Notes:
  1. ​Lane Changing - you must keep indicating till all 4 wheels are in the other lane.
  2. When turning left you must check your left blindspot - the cycle lane.
  3. 3 Point Turn - you must indicate and check on 3rd turn.
  4. Left Turn at traffic lights with Give Way Sign - you must wait for the green light before moving.
  5. Left Turn - keep left and stay in your lane.

Points To Remember:
  • Always indicate and check before moving and don't move suddenly.
  • When waiting to turn check both side and be ready before.
  • Lane changing / merging or entering a turning bay - merge in and then start braking . Don't brake hard before moving in.
  • Watch your speed on narrow roads and drive to the road conditions.
  • When turning keep indicating 
  • Roundabouts - you have to always indicate left when exiting them.
  • Check the center mirror before braking or slowing down.
  • Hand Position - Make big turns when needed and move your hands, don't twist them.
  • U-Turn - Don't brake hard for no reason, just be slow and roll around 20-30km and check your right blindspot.
  • When parking next to the curb you must be under 30cm from the curb.
  • Blind corners / sharp turns - you must keep left and be slow.
  • You must know it's safe before turning - see 100 meters on each side / 3 lamps posts.
  • Left Turns - angle the car with the road.
  • Parallel Parking - Go slow and use the space behind you.
  • You must stop - pause - check at stop signs before moving.
  • Narrow roads - indicate to pass parked cars.
  • Wide Roads - keep left and you can drive over empty bus stops.
  • Be Slow before turning aim for around 15-20km and let the car roll around.
  • Right Turns - find the center before turning and keep on your side.
  • Avoid bottlenecks, be slow before and keep left.
  • Stay back when waiting in a queue.

  • Merging - Must indicate and check blindspot before.
  • Left Turn - Slow down to around 20-25km before turning and keep on your side of the road
  • When turning left angle the car with the road, when turning right keep the car straight before turning.
  • Parallel Parking - take your time, go slow and use the space behind you.
  • Merging / Lane change / Stopping on side of the road - Nothing sudden.

  • Moving in and out of traffic / on and off the road - you must merge in and out - nothing sudden.

  • Railway Crossing - Make sure there is enough room on the other side and you must wait for the red lights to stop flashing before moving forward.
  • Always check your center mirror before braking or slowing down.
  • Parallel Parking - Use the space behind you and recheck the right side.

  • Every time you hear an instruction start looking around.
  • Cross Roads - Check both sides before moving through, all intersections check before and check center mirror after.

Points to Remember:
  • More searching is required before intersections, look outward and check the center mirror after moving through.
  • High Speed Zone - Wrong gear must go from 5th to 4th , not 5th to 2nd.
  • Double your following distance when following large / slow vehicles. Stay back and then speed up to overtake.
  • Roundabouts don't indicate left too early, other vehicles will think you are turning left.
  • Orange light - Aim to stop, know what's behind you before.
  • Green light - Check both sides before moving.
  • Don't turn in 3rd gear, you won't have enough power to speed up after the turn. Use 1st or 2nd gear depending on speed.
  • Keep left on wide roads
  • Check your blindspot before indicating - know what is next to you.
  • Left Turns - check left blindspot before turning- check cycle lane.
  • When parking on the road side you must indicate left, check the center mirror and your left blindspot before slowing down.
  • When turning left or right you must see at least 100meters on both sides.
  • Don't ride the clutch when turning or slowing down.
  • Indicate and keep indicating when turning. 3 seconds before the turn. 
  • Narrow Roads - You must indicate and check your blindspot when moving around parked cars (If you move 1/2 over the middle or the road).
  • Stop at Sigh Signs - Pause before moving. All 4 wheels must stop.
  • Use the flush median when needed.
  • Moving +50cm left or right to avoid hazards, you must check your blindspot before 
  • Right Turn - Stay on your side and don't cut the corner.
  • Use the handbrake when needed - Hill Starts - Don't roll back / Stalled.
  • Narrow Roads - Avoid bottlenecks - slow down before and keep left.
  • Always indicate and check blindspot to merge, when required.
  • Stay under the speed limit. Within 5km but not over and drive to the road conditions.
  • When turning you must turn and speed up so as not to force other vehicles to slow down for you.
  • Pedestrian crossing - You must cover your brake and check both sides before moving through. Don't brake for no reason.
  • Once your speed is over 30km, move into 3rd gear. Listen to the sound of the engine / revs.
  • Notice different speed signs - 50/60/80km,
  • Keep a safe stopping distance at intersections and when in a queue. you must have enough to to move around the vehicle in front you if required.
  • Clutch Control - let go of the clutch in 2 steps.
  • Dual lanes - stay in your lane, don't get too close to the white lines.
  • Right turn into a high speed zone +60km, you must have enough room to turn and speed up.
  • Left turn into HSZ 80km, angle the car with the road and have enough room to speed up, you don't want to  cause other vehicles to slow down for you.
  • 3 Point Turn - On 3rd turn you must indicate right before moving and use the handbrake if required.

  • Adjust the seat so you can see more
  • Keep left to avoid oncoming vehicles on narrow roads.
  • Avoid bottlenecks and be slow before, Don't get too close to parked vehicles.
  • Parking - Use the space around you, move away and make a sharp turn into the empty space. Be slow and look ahead.
  • When entering turning bays, you must check your blindspot before entering them.
