​Needs Improvements

• Don’t rush, when exiting the car park and keep left.
• Keep a safe following distance when following other vehicles.
• When stopped in a queue, stay back, so you can see the ground.
• Move into the turning bays before slowing down, check blindspot before moving in.
• Narrow roads - stay back, look ahead and avoid bottlenecks. Indicate to pass parked cars
• While waiting to turn - check both sides (and oncoming vehicles at cross roads).
• Keep left and you can drive over an empty bus stop - oncoming truck
• Orange light = Red light. All traffic lights be prepared for them to change.
• Green Light - check both sides, you are looking for hazards
• Merging - must indicate and check blindspot
• Foot position on paddles - keep your heel on the ground and push with your toes
• Check the center mirror before and after every intersection.
• Wide Roads - Keep left
• More searching - look outward before and after every intersection (it’s never enough). Activity search for hazards.
• Empty Bus Stop - you can drive over them to keep left
• Avoid changing lanes while moving through an intersection.
• Left Turn into high speed zone - Too Slow
• Blind corners - Be prepared for oncoming vehicles
• Keep both hands on the wheel while moving
• Flush Median - Don’t pause / stop while 1/2 your vehicle is sticking out.
• Roundabout - You must indicated on exit (left)
• Check the Center mirror before braking /slowing down.
• Right Turn - Stay back and crawl forward if you can’t see.
• Shoulder Check  / Blind Spot Check - you must turn your head 90’ but keep your shoulders straight.
• Parallel Parking - Indicate Left before stopping. You must check the right blind spot.
• 3 Point Turn - Don’t Drive into the driveway, stay on the road.
• Lane Changing - Indicate till all 4 wheels are in the other lane

Too slow - You must not remain stationary when you have ample opportunity to proceed safely

Critical Errors:
Parallel Parking
No signal - You must signal for at least 3 seconds before stopping.
Observation - You must perform a head check before reversing


3 Point Turn
No signal - You must signal right, once you have reversed back


Roundabout
Too slow - You must not remain stationary when you have ample opportunity to proceed safely

Pedestrian Crossing
Observation - You must check your relevant mirrors before braking

​1 - Don’t rush to leave the car park, keep left and check for oncoming trucks 

2 - Parallel Parking - Indicated, Check and then stop. Recheck the right side before reversing back. Once parked indicate right and check right blind spot.

3 - Lane Changing - You will need to indicate and keep indicating till all 4 wheels are in the other lane. 

4 - Wide Roads - Keep left reasonable

5 - Hand Position - Don’t twist your hands, Use your left hand to turn left and right hand to turn right. 

When turning right - Move your right hand to the top of the wheel and pull down(right) From 12 o’clock to 5 o’clock and for the left turns from 12 o’clock to 7 o’clock.

6 - Narrow Roads - Indicate to pass parked cars if your vehicle is likely to be more then half way over the middle of the road ( Indicate right and check right blind spot, when moving back to the left indicate left and check left blind spot.)

7 - Right Turns - On narrow roads keep on your side of the road. Presume there is a truck coming towards you.

8 - 3 Point Turn and U-turns - Indicate right and check your right blind spot before moving out

9 - Right Turn - Stay stopped while other vehicle are crossing your path.


Critical Errors: 

1 - Duration of indicating when changing lanes and merging too short

2 - Vehicle Position - Applicant must keep reasonably to the left.

3 -  Hand Position / Steering - Applicant unnecessary driving with one hand / Erratic movement of steering wheel.

Restricted Simulated Test Manukau - 5th December 2021

1. U - Turns and 3 Point Turns - Applicant must indicate right and check right blind spot
before moving

2. Flush Medians - Applicant must move into flush median and wait till it is safe to move
out. When safe to turn right there is no need to stop/ wait in the flush median.

3. Narrow Roads - Applicant must indicate right and check right blind spot before moving
past a parked car, if applicants vehicle is more than half way over the middle of the
road. Applicant must also indicate left and check left blind spot before moving back to
the left side of the road

4. Parallel Parking - Applicant must recheck right side before moving back

5. Lane Changing - Applicant must indicate and keep indicating till all 4 wheels are in the
other lane

6. Motorway Onramp - Applicant must use the whole onramp

7. Motorway On/Offramp - Applicant must check and recheck blind spots before moving
on - off the motorway

8. Left Turn at Traffic Lights with Give Way Signs - Applicant must to stop if safe to turn.
