Overseas Conversion?
- There is no straight answer, it all depends on the students ability to observe traffic regulations, vehicle control, search and identify hazards. In most cases all this can be covered within 10-20 lessons. But additional lessons will be need to build up confidence and a sense of the road.
- Younger drivers generally learn faster, but just like everything else in life the more you practice the easier it gets. The NZTA recommends 120 hours of practical driving experience before attempting the restricted driving test. That is 5 hours each week for 6 months, however this is never the case in practice. Can you pick up me up for a Simulated Driving Test, and can I use my own vehicle?
- We prefer to meet outside the Test Center for simulated tests, however we can meet you at your place if you have a learners licence or a licence with supervisory conditions and prefer to use your vehicle for the simulated test. Depending on your location we may only be able to complete part of the simulated test, due to travelling time to and from the test center.
- In this case most of our customers prefer taking a 2hr session for simulated test.
I don't have transport, can driving lessons be taken where I live?
- Yes, We provide a door - to - door service FREE pickup for driving lessons. We will pick you up from your house, school or work within our coverage area. (Coverage Area)
Can the pick up and drop off location be different?
- Yes as long as it is within our coverage area, just inform our instructor before the lesson commences.
Is there a Cancellation Fee?
- We require 24hrs notice, or a cancellation fee will apply.
Do I pay for petrol? (Are there any hidden costs?)
- No, this is covered in the tuition cost. (Price List)
Can I use my own car if I have a Learners, Restricted, Full licence or Overseas Conversion Licence with condition?
- Yes, you can. We prefer you do drive what you feel more comfortable in.
What do I need to be able to take lessons?
- You will need to have a New Zealand Learners, Restricted Licence, Full or an Overseas Licence. A NZTA temporary licence will also be acceptable, with additional photo ID. The licence must be valid.
Can I pay for my driving lessons through online banking?
- Yes, Banking Details: Alert Driving School - 010 354 0016018 00 - ANZ - Manurewa. Please use your name and address as the reference if you don't have a invoice number. Online Payment Details
How do I get me learners licence?
- Try our FREE online computerised theory test of 350+ questions, to ensure you will pass. Please remember that this is only a sample of the questions that may be asked, it is important that you read and understand the road code before sitting your test.
Where can I book for my Actual Driving Test?
- Driver Test Centers and Online Test Booking. If you wish to have a lesson before your exam please contact us to arrange a time that would suit you and our instructors.
- We provide training ONLY. All testing is done through NZTA at VTNZ Vehicle Test Sites.

When can I do my Restricted Test?
- 6 months after you passed your Learners test you can apply for your restricted test.
Do I need to speak English?
- No, we currently have Translators and Interpreters in Hindi, Gujarati and Punjabi that can driving with you during the practical examinations or sit with you during your theory examinations. Contact Ray on 021 216 1385 for more details.
- We have taught people that don’t speak English. They need to learn just a few words associated with driving.
Overseas Conversion?
- Yes, we can help you convert your Overseas Licence to a New Zealand licence.
