Westgate Lesson Notes

Immediate Fail:

1. Speed Control - You must stay within the speed limit including all temporary speed signs.

Critical Errors:

1. Parking On Roadside - You must indicate left and check your left blindspot.
2. 3 Point Turn - You must indicate right and check your right blindspot.
3. Narrow Roads - Look ahead, avoid bottlenecks and indicate to pass parked cars.
4. Roundabouts - Be ready before, look for cover vehicles on your left and in front. Stay behind the white line. Indicate to exit.
5. Gap Selection - You must not remain stationary for no good reason for 5 seconds or more when there is ample opportunity to turn.

Needs Improvement:​​

1. Left Turn - Angel the car and check the cycle lane before turning, the left blindspot.
2. Searching and Mirror Usage - Recheck all intersections before and after.
3. Speed Bumps - Check you center mirror before braking / slowing down.
4. Steering / Hand Position - Move your hands and keep your hands on the wheel. Make big turns when needed. Don't twist your hands.
5. Flush Medians - Be comfortable using them when needed.
6. U- Turn - Keep left and recheck your right blindspot. Don't get too close to the parked cars.
7. Parallel Parking - Use the space behind you. Indicate left and check before stopping. Recheck the right side.
8. Off-Ramps - Move off the motorway before slowing down.
