- Vehicle Clearance: Do not drive too close to parked cars—maintain safe clearance at all times.
- Flush Medians: Become comfortable using flush medians. Move into and out of them smoothly, always indicating and checking your blind spot.
- Searching / Observation: When checking blind spots, turn your head about 90 degrees—eye movement alone is not enough.
- High-Speed Zones: When merging or changing lanes, make smooth movements only. Do not brake hard or slow excessively while moving into the new lane.
- Stop Signs: You must come to a complete stop—all four wheels must stop—then pause, check carefully, and move when safe.
- Roundabouts: Always indicate left when exiting. Angle the car to match the road, look for cover vehicles, and give way to vehicles on your right.
- Braking: Always check your centre mirror before braking or slowing down.
- Blind Corners: Keep left and adjust your speed and road position early.
- Narrow Roads: Indicate when passing parked cars and avoid bottlenecks.
- Parallel Parking: Go slowly, recheck mirrors and blind spots, and use the space behind you effectively.
- Roadworks: When a 30 km/h sign is posted, slow down immediately and remain at that speed until you pass the end roadworks sign.
- Left Turns: Angle the car correctly and ensure you can see at least 100 metres before turning.
- Right Turns (General): Do not cut corners—stay on your side of the road and turn into the correct lane.
- Traffic Lights: Lights will always change—be prepared to stop, check both directions, and make safe decisions.
