- Observation: No matter how much you think you’re looking, always look more. Keep your eyes moving and remain aware of what’s happening ahead, beside, and behind your vehicle.
- Braking & Speed Control: Avoid harsh braking. Look well ahead, ease off the accelerator early, and brake smoothly. Use the vehicle’s momentum to your advantage.
- Intersections: Look off the road and carefully check both sides for other vehicles. Do not stop unless there is a valid reason to do so.
- High-Speed Zones (HSZ): When following trucks or buses—especially uphill—expect them to slow down. Maintain a safe following distance and be patient.
- Turning & Steering: When turning and accelerating, turn the steering wheel properly and move your hands higher when larger turns are needed. Look at least 100 metres ahead where possible. If visibility is limited, drive with extra caution.
- Downhill Driving: Monitor your speed closely when travelling downhill and cover the brake to maintain control.
- Roundabouts: Check both sides and watch for vehicles that may not be indicating or are approaching at speed.
- U-Turns & Three-Point Turns: Always indicate correctly and check all blind spots before moving.
