Key Areas to Focus On

🔵 Right Turns
  • Avoid turning too wide.
  • Move toward the centre of the road where appropriate.
  • Stay on your side of the road throughout the turn.
  • Make sure you can see at least 100 metres in both directions before turning.
🔵 Left Turns
  • Avoid turning too wide.
  • Angle the car to match the road before turning.
  • Keep left and stay in your lane throughout the turn.
  • Check your left blind spot, especially for cyclists and bus lanes.
🔵 Flush Medians
  • Use the flush median whenever it is safe and appropriate.
  • Indicate and check your blind spot before moving into the flush median.
  • Wait for a safe gap, then merge out smoothly to complete your turn.
🔵 Parallel Parking
  • Take your time and use the space behind your vehicle.
  • Check and recheck your right side before moving out.
  • Perform a right blind spot check before merging back into traffic.
🔵 Foot Position
  • Keep your heel on the floor and use your toes to control the pedals.
  • This helps provide smoother braking and acceleration.
🔵 Narrow Roads & Blind Corners
  • Keep left at all times.
  • Slow down before entering blind corners.
  • Indicate when passing parked vehicles if you need to cross the centre line.
  • Avoid creating bottlenecks and be prepared for oncoming traffic.
🔵 Traffic Lights
  • Check both directions before entering an intersection.
  • Be prepared for the lights to change.
  • If it is safe to stop at an orange light, do so.
🔵 Roundabouts
  • Give way to vehicles approaching from your right.
  • Stay in your lane.
  • Always indicate left when exiting.
  • Look for cover vehicles to help judge safe gaps.
🔵 U-Turns
  • Indicate right before moving.
  • Check your centre mirror and perform a right blind spot check.
  • Complete the manoeuvre smoothly while maintaining good observation.
🔵 Turning
  • Before turning, make sure you can see at least 100 metres in both directions.
  • If your view is restricted, edge forward carefully until you can see clearly.
  • Do not rush your turns.
🔵 Following Distance
  • Double your following distance and stopping distance in wet or poor road conditions.
  • Stay far enough back to see the ground behind the vehicle in front and leave enough space to react safely.
