  • Overdo your head checks—make them obvious.
  • Move your head, not just your eyes when checking blind spots.
  • Always know what is happening ahead, behind, and beside you.
Hazard Identification:
  • Look well ahead and anticipate hazards early.
  • Remember that cars, pedestrians, cyclists, and animals can move into your path.
  • Be prepared to react and adjust your speed to the road conditions.

Merging & Lane Changing:
  • Know what is happening beside and behind you.
  • Avoid having vehicles sitting in your blind spot.
  • Indicate and complete a clear blind spot/head check before moving.
  • Make smooth movements--nothing sudden.

Flush Medians:
  • Become more comfortable using the flush median.
  • Use it when required and when it is safe.
  • Indicate and check your blind spot before moving in.
  • Merge smoothly in and out of the flush median.
