Glen Innes - Driver Testing Site - First Look

I just did an initial driving lesson around the Glen Innes Driver Test Site today and planned out some pre test routes. These are the common errors /faults found around the GI driver testing site during the lesson.

Key Points:

• Narrow Roads - Keep left
• Reaction Time - Parked cars with brake lights, what will they do?
• Right Turn - Vehicle position, check both sides for vehicles.
• Cornering - keep left
• Narrow Roads - Indicate to pass parked cars.
• Roundabouts - Don't block pedestrian crossing
• Stop at STOP Signs
• Right Turn - Check your blind spot before moving into it.
• Narrow Roads - Right Turn - don't cut corners
• Vehicle Position - Cycle / Bus lanes
• Intersections - Too close to vehicles in front / following distance
• Merging - vehicle position - searching ahead
• Gap selection at roundabouts.

The closest high speed zones are Pakuranga Highway and Road. Speed limited vary from 60km to 80km.

Speed Limits:
40km - School Zone (during pickup /drop off times)
20km - School Bus (with kids around it)
30km - Post Road works sign (must slow down)

Following Distance:
2 Seconds - Normal Conditions
4 Seconds - Wet /High speed /busy traffic
